Hickory Harwood Lumber

Color:  

Heartwood ranges in color from pale brown, to brown with red tinges.

Grain:  

Course in texture, usually with a fine, straight grain.

Workability:  

Can be difficult to machine and glue and are very hard to work with hand tools. They hold nails and screws well, pre-boring is advised. Wood can be sanded to a good finish.

Physical Properties:  

The hardest, heaviest and strongest American wood. Known for strength and shock resistance.
